From Soil to Blossom🌼

The Story Behind Daykeyla’s Ready-to-Wear Debut

🌼You are a flower🌼, and every flower begins in the soil as a seed. The seed was laid into the soil. Hidden, nurtured, and in darkness. This Blossom ready-to-wear collection is my flowering seed. Before the beautiful petals saw light, there was a quiet season of rooting, the unseen growth down into the darkened depths of the soil.

This journey began long before the fabric was cut or sketches were finalized, without funding or clear direction. It was a dream and a prayer. There were so many failures and mistakes that I wondered if my petals would ever see the sunlight. Today, I realize those failures were valuable lessons. And those lessons are my roots.

Growing roots can take a long time, and it can be painful. My first attempt at ready-to-wear came during the pandemic, a time filled with uncertainty. I made shimmering flip-sequin skirts and a few couture pieces, but the world wasn't ready. And to be honest, I wasn't either. My biggest mistake was believing that participating in runway shows and dressing celebrities were the only ways to bring awareness to my brand. Those shows were exciting and enjoyable, but the money spent was not worth the outcome. Thousands wasted. No celebrities called, and sales were next to nothing. These attempts that I viewed as failures blossomed into lessons. Roots. I'd learned how to manage money better, the necessity of sacrifice, and the operations within the industry. The roots had grown enough. It was time for my seed to break open and push toward the sunlight. 

My prayers evolved, and so did my dreams. Like many designers, I once hoped to see one of my creations walking the red carpet at the MET Gala, but I realized that dream wasn't big enough. I was seeking validation from others when, in reality, God's plan for my business and for me was much greater. 

I felt called to share my story in order to help others find healing and understand that God loves them. My fashion collections often tell stories inspired by movies and novels, promoting positive morals to encourage and empower women. I hadn't fully grasped how my journey of suffering, abuse, healing, and growth could impact the lives of others. This is the path God has set before me. 

My story is unique and authentic, providing the perfect opportunity to help other women. However, sharing my experiences would be challenging, so I had to hold on to my faith and follow the direction God revealed when He answered my prayers. As I grounded myself, my bloom began to rise toward the sunlight. I wrote down the plan and followed the roadmap to groundbreaking. I started believing in myself, trusting that something beautiful and blessed was about to blossom.

Now, years later, my Blossom collection is blooming. We have risen above the ground, broken through the dirt with colorful petals and strong foundational roots. This collection represents our breakthrough, our first ready-to-wear collection, and the road we tread to get here. Every stitch in this line speaks to personal healing, spiritual rebirth, and creative clarity. This isn't just clothing. It's proof that patience and faith can bring beauty from the dirt.
